Young Coalburn Tuba Player is Top of the Class
Euan Court was awarded the best student
at last week’s National Children’s Brass Band of Scotland residential week in
Stirling.
12 year old Euan, who begins his secondary education at Lesmahagow High School this week was chosen ahead of 40 other children by the course staff and is pictured on stage at Perth Concert Hall receiving The ‘NYBBLETS’ award from the band’s musical director Gordon Evans.
Euan, an Eb Bass player, and Euphonium player Jack Archibald, (pictured at Stirling Castle) both representing Coalburn Bronze Band, attended this excellent week of brass tuition. Both the boys had a fabulous time at the course and highlights included a concert in Stirling Castle and a gala concert at Perth Concert Hall, which featured the Children’s Band along with the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland and the Reserve Youth Brass Band of Scotland.
The 2 boys have been members of the children’s brass band, Coalburn Bronze Band for the past couple of years and this session, they move onto the next stage by joining Coalburn Intermediate Band, which will provide them with more tuition and musical challenges.
Euan commented ‘I had a brilliant week at Stirling meeting new friends, learning new music and having great fun. I can’t wait for next years course’.
Coalburn Bronze Band is always looking for new players to join their active band.
