Historic Result for Coalburn Silver Band
Coalburn Silver Band recorded there finest ever result in its 111 year history with an impressive 3rd place at last weekends Scottish Brass Band Championships.
The band, competing in the first section under its Musical Director, Gareth Bowman gave a wonderfully musical and powerful interpretation
of the set piece ‘Brass Triumphant’ by Gareth Wood.
The band’s soloists all performed well with Tenor Horn, Rachel Baxter winning the trophy for best Horn player on the day.
The band wore their new waistcoats, made possible through a grant from The Hagshawhill Windfarm Trust are pictured prior to the performance.
The band’s 3rd place merited an invitation to the Scottish Challenge Shield later in the year and they also received the Scottish Amateur Brass Band Trophy.
The band are now looking forward to their next performance at the Fife Brass Band Festival later in April and have two spectacular concerts lined up for May where the theme will be ‘Top of the Pops” the concerts are on the 10th and 24th May at Livingstone Memorial Church,Blantyre and East Kilbride Old Parish Church respectively.
