Runners up spot for Coalburn
Coalburn Silver Band is celebrating another fabulous result following last weekends Scottish
Championships.
The band were competing in the very competitive 2nd section of the Scottish Brass Band Association championships and were up against another 12 bands at the Rothes Hall, Glenrothes, Fife.
The band was drawn 6th and gave a wonderfully musical performance of the set piece, Cross Patonce by the famous brass band arranger Goff Richards. The band members and supporters were delighted when the results were announced and the
band was awarded the runners up spot.
The result means that the band will be promoted to the 1st section and will represent Scotland at the British Brass Band Championships to be held in Cheltenham in September of this year.
The band under the direction of their musical director Gareth Bowman now look forward to a number of concerts and competitions this spring. The band will be at the Livingstone Memorial Church, Glasgow Road, Blantyre on the evening of Friday 23rd March. Their concert entitled ‘In The Mood’ features Big Band, Jazz and Blues music and a feast of superb music awaits the audience.
Entry to the Blantyre concert will be on the door on theevening of the concert and prices for entry are £5. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
