Coalburn Young Team at NYBBS
The Coalburn Brass Band family are delighted to report that six of it’s promising young brass players were involved in this year’s National Youth Brass Band of Scotland (NYBBS) summer course.
Jack Archibald, Hannah Archibald, Anna Biggart, Euan Court, Finlay Damer and Tilly Trickey represented the Percussion Academy, Bronze, Intermediate and Silver Band ensembles. Euan and Anna were both announced as section principals in the Reserve Band for both the Basses and Trombones respectively.
Band President Alan Court commented, 'we were absolutely thrilled at the uptake for this years NYBBS course and we are indebted to the Loaningdale Trust for their financial support. We are delighted with the progress of our youngsters and look forward to supporting them further as they continue their musical education'.
The Coalburn youngsters joined 140 young brass and percussion players from around the country for the week long course held at Strathallan in Perthshire. The week concluded with the end of course concerts featuring the Children’s, Reserve and Senior Bands where the standard of performance was both fun filled and very accomplished.
Finlay Damer was recognized as part of the best section (percussion) within the Children’s Band and Euan Court was one of three young people automatically promoted to the Senior Band for next year’s courses.
