Coalburn Silver Intermediate Band Musical Director Announced
Coalburn Silver Band is delighted to announce the appointment of Kyle MacCorquodale as Musical Director of their newly formed Intermediate Band.
Kyle started playing accordion at the age of 5. Over time and many other instruments, he discovered the trombone and immediately knew this was the instrument for him.
Wanting to play the trombone in as many opportunities as possible, Kyle joined the Lanarkshire Orchestral Society and several Jazz bands and when he moved to High School, became heavily involved with everything musical.
During High School, Kyle decided that he wished to move to a bigger instrument and having seen a tuba being played in a Wind orchestra, was desperate to try this out. Through playing the tuba, Kyle was introduced to the Coalburn Bronze Band.
After a successful few years, Kyle began playing bass trombone. He found this to be a natural step as he could still be playing the trombone but have the mentality of playing a tuba!
At the age of 16 Kyle auditioned and was successful in gaining a place in the Royal Junior Conservatoire where he is receiving expert tuition on trombone and piano and is also involved in the majority of orchestras and ensembles, which has improved his playing, technical ability and musicianship and allows him to continue to enjoy the music he makes.
When Kyle leaves school, he plans to attend University to continue his musical education and to hopefully make a career in music.
Kyle is looking forward to the challenge of Musical Director of the newly formed Coalburn Silver Intermediate Band and commented,
“I am delighted to have been given the position of Musical Director for the new Intermediate Band and hope to develop my skills at conducting as the band progresses through its no doubt successful future”
Band President Alan Court further commented, “We are thrilled to have appointed Kyle as the MD of our new band and look forward to establishing and developing this third tier in the Coalburn organisation”.
The Intermediate Band commences on Monday 25th February 2013 and will meet in the Band Hall, 27 Bellfield Road, Coalburn, ML11 0LA at 7.30p.m.
