From Ostend to East Kiblride
Coalburn Silver Band is back in Scotland following a fantastic weekend in Ostend, Belgium at the European Brass Band Championships.
The band played two test pieces in the Challenge Section of the Championships in the wonderful and cavernous surroundings of the Kursall concert hall in the heart of the seaside resort.
5th place was awarded to the band following performances of ‘Insomnia’ and ‘The Land of The Long White Cloud’ under the direction of their conductor Gareth Bowman.
The band is indebted to the Hagshaw Hill Windfarm Trust and the Scottish Brass Band Association for their financial support.
The band now turns it’s attention towards a return to East Kilbride this June for their annual summer concert. The concert will be held on Friday 2nd June 2017 at East Kilbride Old Parish Church, Montgomery Street, doors open at 7pm with the concert commencing at 7.30p.m. The band will be playing a wide selection of music from a number of genres. Their guests, Coalburn Intermediate Band and a guest vocalist will join them on the night.
Band President Alan Court commented, ‘we are thrilled to be returning to East Kilbride, this promises to be the most memorable of concerts and should appeal to everyone, a fantastic night of entertainment is guaranteed’
Admission is £5 and is payable on the door or by tickets available from the church office or any band member. All proceeds will be going to the work of the church and band.
