Christmas Concert Success
December has been an exciting month for the Coalburn Brass Band Family as we decided to organise and stage our first ever virtual Christmas Concert on Sunday 20 December. The concert featured music from the Silver Band, the Intermediate Band, the Bronze Band and the Percussion Academy. The music was recorded from the safety of our own homes and featured a selection of festive favourites, as well as the Bronze Band’s programme from their performance at SBBA’s virtual Youth Festival of Brass event.
As Covid-19 has had a damaging effect on the mental health of many people the band decided to donate the proceeds from the concert to the Lanarkshire Association For Mental Health (LAMH), a local mental health charity that provides community based support services throughout the region. So far the concert has raised a fantastic total of £1200.00 for the charity.
Everyone from the Coalburn Silver Band Family would like to thank our Musical Directors Gareth Bowman and David Fehilly, our Percussion Academy Tutor Daniel Fairley as well as band members Calum Miller, Ewan Grant, Alan Court and Jenny Alexander for their efforts in organising and putting together the concert.
The Band Family would also like to thank everyone who has watched the concert and donated so far. In particular, we would like offer a special thanks to our sponsors at Gardiners of Scotland, Band Supplies, Alan Court School of Motoring, Cake Stuff, Eric Watson Financial Solutions Ltd, Rollos Fish n Chips, J J Ferguson Limited, and Dynamic Chemicals.
The concert and charity link are still available on both our Facebook page and YouTube channel, and it is still possible to donate until 3 January 2021 via - www.virginmoneygiving.com/fund/coalburnsilverband
