Coalburn's Youngsters at NYBBs
Eight of the Coalburn Brass Band family’s finest young
talent had a fabulous time at the recent National Youth Brass band of Scotland
residential course at Dunblane.
Anna Biggart, Beth Damer, Calum Blair, Calum Miller, Drew Gupwell, Emily Barclay, Euan Court and Jack Archibald represented the Bronze, Intermediate and Silver Band ensembles at the Queen Victoria School venue.
They are pictured with the Silver Band Conductor and NYBBS Reserve Band tutor, Gareth Bowman and the Intermediate Band Conductor, Kyle MacCorquodale.
The Coalburn youngsters were involved in the Children’s Band, Reserve and Senior band’s and all performed at the end of course concert in the wonderful surroundings of Dunblane Cathedral.
Silver Band Eb Bass player Euan Court was awarded best soloist in the Children’s band while the Intermediate Band’s conductor Kyle MacCorquodale was judged best soloist in the Senior Band. (both pictured receiving their awards from Musical Director Emeritus Richard Evans)
All in all it was a wonderful experience for these talented youngsters who are already looking forward to next year’s course.
