Brass to the Future - Sunday 26 January
10.30am - 4pm
The Coalburn Brass Band family has once again teamed up with South Lanarkshire Council Instrumental Services and are delighted to announce a fun filled day of workshops with Helen Minshall.
The event is free to all and will take place on Sunday 26 January at Blackwood and Kirkmuihill Community Wing from 10.30am.
Helen will be bringing along her range of plastic brass instruments for attendees to learn how to play. See the video below for an example of one of Helen's workshops.

A band spokesperson commented, 'We are very excited to be hosting another afternoon of workshops in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council’s Instrumental Services. We look forward to working with Helen and it is set to be a fun and educational day for all. We are grateful to the Scottish Brass Band Association and Creative Scotland for the financial support received for this event.'
The event is open to anyone with an interest in brass regardless of experience. Beginners are also welcome. Scott Kerr, principal euphonium with the Whitburn Band will also be leading masterclasses with the Intermediate and Silver Bands and giving feedback to the band soloists. Organisers ask that everyone arrives from 10am for registration and extend an open invitation to family and friends to join for a short concert at 3pm for a concert featuring all participants.
The free concert will feature a performance from Scott and a performance from the Coalburn Percussion Academy who will be working with percussion tutor Sarah Naish.
