Bronze Band Wins Gold
Coalburn Bronze Band brought back the gold medals last weekend when they became the 2012 Scottish Youth Brass Band Champions (Preparatory Section)
The Bronze Band comprises children from all over South Lanarkshire and performed at the stunning Perth Concert Hall where they faced eight other bands in their Section. Under their Musical Director, Jayne Brownlie, the Band produced a wonderful programme of music, playing Pierre
Ghint’s ‘Swingin’ With The Mountain King’, then a brass compilation from the musical ‘Grease’.
In a nail biting award ceremony, Coalburn Bronze Band was one of three to be awarded a Gold Certificate and this was followed by the announcement that Coalburn had become Champions.
On stage to receive the beautiful silver Scottish Brass Band Association ‘Broadnib Music Trophy’ along with a commemorative Banner and individual medals for each player were Musical Director Jayne Brownlie and band member Euan Court. Bronze Band President Jayne Riley commented ‘We are all extremely proud of the children and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents for their support and to
our Musical Director, Jayne Brownlie for all her hard work’.
Coalburn Bronze Band is a feeder band for the senior Coalburn Silver Band and is always looking for new players who are interested in playing brass and percussion instruments. They practice weekly on a Wednesday evening between 6.30pm and 8.30pm at the band hall in Coalburn
